Breaking Radio Silence! 2009-02-03

Breaking Radio Silence - The Atlanta Radio Theatre Company Newsletter

Greetings everyone and welcome to the online archive of the ARTC newsletter, published on or around the first Tuesday of each month!  The purpose of a newsletter is to bring news, so let’s begin with news about…

Live Performances:
Thanks to everybody who saw us at Chattacon! We had a blast and we hope you did, too!

Next up, ARTC returns to the Academy Theatre for our 25th Anniversary Kickoff. Featuring Thomas E. Fuller’s Blues for Johnny Raven: The Ambience Man and also musical guest Juliana Finch, this is going to test the limits of live performance in audio and marks the beginning of a year-long celebration of a quarter-century of original audio drama.

If you’re looking for a fast, cheap, and easy way to help ARTC, this show has a Facebook event associated with it. Our holiday show, An Atlanta Christmas ended up with a little over 700 people invited and for this show we’d like to make it to 1000. If you have a Facebook account, please go to the event page, RSVP, and then invite everyone you know. Even if they don’t live around here, you never know when you might reach someone who might appreciate a little Adventure in Sound!

Here’s all the details:

Getting Involved:
We get a number of inquiries from people asking how they can help with ARTC. Of course we always welcome new members, but some folks don’t have the time, have no interest in the gritty details of audio production or acting, or just don’t happen to live in the area where we rehearse. For all of you folks, Thank You for your interest. We have some solutions for you.

  • Join the ARTC Facebook page.

  • Contribute to the ARTC photo Gallery! Just create an account, wait for us to approve you, and upload your pictures of our performances to the website!
  • Tell folks about this mailing list!

Studio Productions:
The sound effects library we mentioned in the previous newsletter is already helping streamline the production process. Look for new product soon!

In the meantime, don’t forget our already extensive catalog!
Think CDs are old hat? ARTC is available by download at Audible.com, iTunes, and Amazon!

ARTC Podcast:
The ARTC podcast for January featured Rory Rammer, Space Marshal: The Atomic Graveyard. February will see two episodes of our long-running series Bumpers Crossroads! The Developer and The Traffic Light. Modern technology tries to find the little town that time forgot, but gets lost along the way. Tune in on the second Thursday of each month at 8pm for more free audio drama from ARTC!

Snippets from the Static:
We’d like to present this episode from the podcast for context. Finished listening to that? Now check out this story.

Off-dial Programming:
ARTC has had dozens, if not hundreds, of members in its run since 1984, and they don’t just do radio drama. Look for these ARTC members in performances around the Atlanta area!

Doug Kaye returns to the role of Friar Lawrence in William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet at the New American Shakespeare Tavern, January 31-March 1.. He promises spectacular swordplay, so make a point of attending!

Former ARTC President Geoffrey M. Brown in his new production company, Dancing Monkey Cabaret!

Got something for Snippets from the Static or Off-dial Programming? Broadcast it this way!
As always:
